Chapter 17
The woman looks at the screen; she sees three people entering the place. On her face, a faint smile appears; she knows too well desperation is a foul product of hope. But someone paid; she has to execute. She takes her mobile, waits for his answer.
“Yes?”
“Thomas, they are entering the building.”
“Destroy the files and leave. I will contact you.”
“Yes Sir. Thomas…”
“Something else?”
“Toshiko Sato is with them. She betrayed us.”
“You know what you have to do. Nobody can turn away from Blue Lizard. Kill her.”
“As you wish.”
Suzie Costello sighs profoundly; she feels like a cold hand is squeezing her throat: sometimes she just wants to scream. But she raises her head, erases the files in the computer, takes her weapon and exits the room.

Ianto Jones feels like he’s falling. His head is heavy; he feels so weak. There is blood flowing from his ears and nose. He doesn’t know where he is; he lays down on the cold floor. Then, he realizes he is not alone, a man is beside him. The young man tries to focus; he sees him, but can’t believe it.
“I thought you were dead... I…Is this real?”
“Yes I am really here.”
“Tom… I am sorry…”
“I know Ianto.”
“I missed you Tom…”
“Me too, you were my best friend… My first love…”
“Do you… Do you forgive me?”
“No. That’s why you have to die Ianto.”

Owen and Gwen walk in front of her. She can’t repress the cold sensation that something bad will happen. She knows all too well the foulness that is Blue Lizard; they will never leave her alone. But she has made her decision. When she decided to come here with the others, she knew that the price could be the sacrifice of her life. But it’s alright, Toshiko Sato is a tired woman; she has walked too long in the dark side of shame. She chooses to raise her head; she’s not a coward anymore. At the moment where Owen and Gwen enter the next room, the door between them suddenly closes. Toshiko gently shuts her eyes; she’s ready.
“It’s good to see you Suzie.”
The woman exits the shadows to stand in front of her. There is no emotion in her face, only a futile fire lights her eyes.
“Tosh…”
Soft lips caress her mouth and Toshiko Sato can’t restrain a moan. She loved her so much.
“Suzie… It’s alright…”
The woman caresses her face, looking directly in her eyes. Both women know: love is a foolish bastard.
“Tosh… I…”
“Shhh… Me too Suzie, me too…”
And with these words, she kisses her executioner with her last ounce of passion. In the end, Toshiko Sato feels alive. When the blade enters her stomach, the pain is so strong that it’s like all her body screams. She grasps furiously onto Suzie arms, holding her like a desperate lover, begging for redemption. Suzie embraces her tightly; the blood flows over her. Delicately, she lays the dying woman down on the cold floor. With each convulsion, she holds her more firmly. Something breaks inside her; tears flow down her face.
“Tosh… Forgive me…”
Toshiko is too weak to talk; she smiles. Far away, like a dream, she can hear the knocks against the locked door: like her last drum’s parade. The world fades; darkness rocks her mind. With a last gasp, she stares painfully into the deep brown eyes and she understands: she had been passionately loved. Toshiko closes her eyes for the last time without regret: she knows at the end she was not alone.

Jack Harkness runs, he is a man on the edge. A moment before, he watched the CCTV; he knows where his lover is. He feels like he is moving in slow motion; his breathe is jerky and he has to restrain the panic he feels inside him. I made a promise… I will save you Ianto… Enraged, he knocks the door down with his feet and enters the room. In front of him, a stranger stands beside his lover body. For a moment, the world around stops, then, he sees Ianto chest moving faintly; He is still alive…
“Move away from him or I’ll kill you .”
His voice is cold and firm, but inside the scream hurts. The stranger stares at him and smiles.
“If you shoot me, I swear I will kill him with a bullet in the head.”
Jack realizes with horror that the stranger is pointing his gun directly toward Ianto’s forehead.
“You are a bastard. Don’t…”
“You have no choice. Let me go or he dies.”
Jack hates this situation; he hates to lose.
“Why… Why him?”
“Because I loved him… The past never forgets…”
“Let him go. I swear I’ll make you suffer if he dies…”
The stranger laughs coldly.
“You don’t know him…”
“I know him enough to love him… Everyone deserves redemption.”
“NOT HIM!”
The stranger’s scream echoes in the air; Jack grasps his gun more firmly.
“Put your gun down or I swear I kill Ianto. Let me go.”
Jack knows he doesn’t have choice. With angry resignation he puts his gun down. The stranger smiles coldly.
“He will destroy you someday, like he destroyed my life…”
“No, I trust him…”
Silently, the stranger walks away. Behind him, Jack Harkness holds his young lover carefully. In his arms, Ianto Jones is like a broken doll.
“Jack… Jack, I don’t want to die…”
The older man softly kisses his lover on the lips.
“You’re not going to…”

And in the end...redemption, yes Ianto, once you've faced consequence, and guilt, you deserved redemption.
Like we talked about the other time Nadine, I think we love your Ianto so much, even if he's "un chien sale", he did some 'good' things and he feels kind of guilty of all he did, and Jack is fighting for his redemption. So, he's a bastard, but we love him. :)
