Oh this is wonderful ... the images and the sensory input are dark but powerful.
Drowning terrifies me (I live by the ocean), so this was tough to read but it drew me in all the same.
As psykoas04 said, your writing is very distinct.
You told me earlier in the week the kids were being beasts ... if you'd told me you have a break next week that would have explained it. Students no matter the age are just a mess the week before a break :-) At least you get some time off!
